Binding Child Support Agreement

Simple Separation assists families develop Child Support agreements, setting out how your child(ren) will be supported financially by either or both parents. This is outside the standard formula assessment conducted by the Child Support Agency.

It is important to note Child support is separate to financial settlement and parenting arrangements.

There tends to be 3 types of child support arrangements;

  1. No Formal Arrangement

  2. Child Assessment (organised directly with DHS Child Support Agency)

  3. Binding Child Support Agreement (Simple Separation)

A Binding Child Support Agreement is essentially a private agreement between the parties which can be used in conjunction with or as a substitute to the amount of Child Support required that is in accordance with the standard formula assessment conducted by the Child Support Agency.

Here is a list of child-related expenses that can be included in your agreement ;

  • School fees children until the end of Year 12

  • Medical expenses (eg dentist, orthodontist, podiatrist)

  • Health insurance

  • School uniform including school shoes

  • Sports uniform and associated footwear

  • Extra-curricular activities

  • Extra-curricular school expenses eg excursions, tours, camps, etc,

  • School books and stationary
